Empowering & supporting women

WHO I WORK WITH

Helping women at all stages of life.

Teenagers

Keeping up with the demand of academics, developing your identity, and relationships can cause stress on you. It may even seem like you have to sacrifice one to have the other. When you try to talk to parents or friends about issues, their responses can lead you to feeling alone and misunderstood.

I am a firm believer in middle and high schoolers needing a safe outlet to talk about their issues and work through their emotions. It is overwhelming to keep up with the demands and expectations that are put on them, or even they have put on themselves. By developing skills to manage stress and taking care of themselves, it will help them tackle difficult milestones in the future.

Young Adults

You may still be in college, or just graduated, or you may be in your mid-to-late 20s. Maybe you feel like you should have your life figured out by now or you are questioning what is next. This phase of life often includes some of life’s biggest transitions: breakups, friendship struggles, career decisions, and identity exploration. Either way, navigating your young adults years can be confusing, scary, and overwhelming. You may even think you are the only one that feels this way, well guess what, you definitely are not! Let’s work together to get you to a place where you can feel more confident, secure, and focused.

Mothers

Adjusting to motherhood is one of the biggest life changes you may experience. It is a time when support is truly needed. Not only is motherhood physically exhausting at times; it can be emotionally draining as well. The highs and pure love are often coupled with lows and uncertainty.

You may be experiencing both highs and lows and/or feelings of ambivalence, you are not alone. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

I am passionate about supporting moms to feel themselves again by providing a space where they can openly discuss struggles. Areas of focus include: pregnancy & postpartum depression and anxiety, infertility, neonatal loss, grief/loss from miscarriage, work/life balance, and identity struggles.

Prenatal & Postpartum

Having a baby is suppose to be an amazing experience; the best moment of your life. Everyone says, “You must be so happy!”

But what if you’re not? What if you’re depressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? What if you don’t feel like yourself? What if you feel alone?

Perinatal mental health (PMH) disorders are the most common complication of child birthing in the U.S. One in five women experience depression or anxiety during the prenatal period. When left untreated, PMH disorders can lead to premature or underweight births, impaired parent-child bonding, and learning and behavior problems later in childhood. They can even raise the risk of maternal mortality rate.

In therapy, you can give yourself the safe space to explore and understand yourself. Debunking the joyful myths of motherhood can allow you to feel free of the unrealistic expectations. You can also learn to manage your symptoms and find your new identity as a mother. Changing the way you think and behave can decrease those PMH symptoms.

tHERAPY PROCESS

I help women embody their authentic self, heal, and thrive.

For generations, society has taught women a set of beliefs and rules to live by. Often times, these are filled with shame and oppression. In therapy, we are recognizing these ideas and letting go of the ones that do not fit our identity. We will replace these negative ideas with new, healthier thoughts.

We will also learn how to create boundaries with people and our selves. You are no longer going to make your needs smaller to help others live a more peaceful life. Your needs must go first. You cannot do your job as a daughter, wife, mother, or work if you are not taking care of yourself.

You deserve to love yourself. Social media has installed in us that there is a “perfect body” and we have to go to extreme lengths to fit into the mold. I will help teach you body positively and be confident in yourself as you are today. The self doubt and negative talk does not hold growth or purpose for you. There needs to be a self compassion to live a fulfilled life.

At the end of the day, I want you to know:

If there are tapes playing in your mind, telling you you’re not good enough or keep coming up short, therapy can offer you a way to pause, rewind, and rewrite those scripts.
